Indiana Association of Local Boards of Health
Improving lives by promoting the health of the population through organized community efforts.
Advocacy
In order to be effective in your role as a board of health member, it is important to understand what your responsibilities are, what advocacy is, and what methods you can use to advocate for change. The Indiana Local Board of Health Advocacy Guide will provide you with the information you need to be a strong advocate and to make a difference in your community.
Education and Resources
As a board member, you have an amazing opportunity to make a significant public health contribution in your community, county and state. The Local Board of Health Orientation Manual is intended to introduce you to the field of public health and to give you helpful information about your role as a board of health member, making your time as a board member enjoyable and effective.
Letter from the President
“This is legislation that we all can get behind and is evidence-based to have a great impact on the smoking rate which currently keeps us at 42nd in the nation and costs Hoosiers billions in healthcare and in lives lost.”
Our Mission
The mission of the Indiana Association of Local Boards of Health is to strengthen local boards of health through education, training, networking, advocacy and technical assistance, thus enabling them to effectively support the core functions and the ten essential services of public health that promote and protect the health of their communities.
